To wrap up our great year, we had an end of the year celebration! We gathered in a Dana classroom to have dinner from Bucknell catering. After dinner, we handed out our superlatives for the year including awards for “Taking Initiative” on the go-karts and “Best Attendance” for ASME events. Finally, we ended the night by testing our mechanical engineering knowledge with a Kahoot and awarded first and second place with a leftover shirt from our t-shirt making event. With this year coming to a close, we eagerly await the ASME events to come next year!

T-Shirt Making Event
As one of our social events, we went to 7th Street Makerspace to make ASME t-shirts. We used the logo as out design and the E-board went ahead of time to pre-cut cut the vinyl so members could just press on their logo. It was a fun event and everyone got free merch!
First Design Challenge: Egg Drop
Our first design challenge for ASME this year was an egg drop. Members got into pairs and created designs to keep an egg from breaking when dropped off of a second story balcony. The items the teams were allowed to use for their egg drop were a box, duct tape, twine, popsicle sticks, and paper. Each of these supplies were given a value and each team was only allowed to use ten dollars worth of supplies for the given values. All successful drop devices were in the running for one of three awards: smallest, cheapest, and most creative.
